Rotate Image

Turn the image left, right, upside down, or enter a custom angle.

Rotate Image Online

Use this free online image rotator to turn JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, or HEIF photos left, right, upside down, or by a custom angle. Review the correctly bounded output and download it without uploading the image.

How to Rotate an Image Online

1

Upload an image

Choose a JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, or HEIF image from your device.

2

Choose the angle

Rotate left 90 degrees, right 90 degrees, 180 degrees, or enter a custom angle.

3

Choose the format

Keep a practical JPG, transparent PNG, or modern WebP output.

4

Rotate and download

Create the correctly bounded result, review its dimensions, and download it.

Why Use This Online Image Rotator?

Left, right, and 180° rotation

Correct sideways or upside-down photos with the most common rotation controls.

Custom image angles

Enter a positive or negative angle when a photo needs more than a quarter turn.

No clipped corners

The output canvas expands for custom angles so the complete rotated image remains visible.

Private browser processing

Image decoding, rotation, encoding, preview, and download creation run locally in your browser.

Photo Rotation

Rotate Photos Left, Right, or Upside Down

Sideways phone photos, scanned documents, product pictures, and downloaded images can open in the wrong orientation. This image, photo, and picture rotator lets you use Left 90° or Right 90° for a quarter turn, or choose 180° when the picture is upside down. The result shows its final pixel dimensions before download.

A 90-degree rotation swaps width and height without stretching the image. A 180-degree rotation keeps the same canvas dimensions while turning every pixel upside down.

Custom Angles

Rotate an Image by Any Angle Without Clipping

Choose Custom when the image needs a small correction or a creative diagonal turn. Positive values rotate clockwise and negative values rotate counterclockwise. The output canvas expands around the rotated image so its corners are not cut off.

Custom rotations can create empty corners. JPG fills those corners with white because it does not support transparency. PNG and WebP can preserve transparent corners when that is more useful.

Rotate vs Crop

Rotate First, Then Crop, Resize, or Compress

Rotation changes orientation, while cropping removes part of the image. Correct a sideways photo here first, then use Crop Image to remove unwanted borders. If an upload also needs exact pixels, continue with Resize Image Dimensions. For a maximum KB limit, use the Image Compressor.

Image Formats

Rotate JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and HEIF Images

JPG is practical for ordinary photos and creates a white background around custom-angle corners. PNG is useful for graphics or transparent corners, while WebP provides a modern output option. HEIC and HEIF photos are prepared locally before rotation, making the workflow useful for recent iPhone images.

Privacy First

Rotate Images Without Uploading Them

During normal use, the selected image is decoded, rotated, encoded, previewed, and prepared for download in your browser. It does not need to be sent to our server, which is useful for personal photos, scanned forms, and work files.

Local testing notes

Tested for complete, correctly bounded rotations

We test left and right 90-degree turns, 180-degree rotation, positive and negative custom angles, landscape and portrait images, expanded canvas bounds, JPG white corners, transparent PNG and WebP output, HEIC and HEIF preparation, downloads, mobile controls, and private browser processing. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I rotate an image online?

Upload an image, choose left 90 degrees, right 90 degrees, 180 degrees, or a custom angle, select the output format, and press Rotate. Review the result and download it.

Can I rotate an image 90 degrees?

Yes. Use Left 90° for a counterclockwise turn or Right 90° for a clockwise turn. A 90-degree rotation swaps the output width and height.

Can I rotate a photo by a custom angle?

Yes. Choose Custom and enter an angle from -360 to 360 degrees. Positive values rotate clockwise and negative values rotate left.

Will a custom rotation cut off the corners?

No. The tool calculates a larger output canvas for custom angles so the full rotated image fits without clipping.

Why do custom JPG rotations have white corners?

JPG does not support transparency, so any empty corners created by a custom angle are filled white. Choose PNG or WebP when you need transparent corners.

Can I rotate JPG and PNG images?

Yes. The tool accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and HEIF files and can export JPG, PNG, or WebP.

Can I rotate an iPhone HEIC photo?

Yes. HEIC and HEIF photos are prepared locally in the browser before the rotation is applied.

Does rotating an image reduce its quality?

Rotation keeps the source pixel content, but the result must be encoded in the selected output format. PNG is lossless, while JPG and WebP output can have small encoding differences.

Should I rotate or crop first?

Rotate first when the whole photo is sideways. Then use Crop Image to remove unwanted edges or Resize Image Dimensions when an upload requires a specific width and height.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Normal image preparation, rotation, preview generation, and download creation happen locally in your browser.
